so my site has been up and running for about 5 months. i am hoping to find some sort of internship work this summer (literally anywhere in the world....so if you have any info about that, it would be great!)
I am thinking though that i need to add in a portofolio area for photo editors to see, in case work comes my way.
any criticism/suggestions appreciated!

No offense meant but the layout makes it look more like a personal journal site then something seriously professional in nature.

I agree with both of the above. the architecture of your site looks like one of those cookie-cutter site that you send your photos to just to show them off. doesn't really say "pro photographer." but your photos are really great! I think if you show them to the right people you're gonna make it.

Thank you for all the comments. Yes, i understand this is basically a "blogger" style. I am hoping to put up a portfolio on the side of my website in case photo editors want to see my best shots. I am in Japan at the moment, but I am really hoping to find some assisting job. Anyone know how I am able to get a decent assisting job? (rather than working in a department store photo studio!?!) I am willing to relocate to just about any city/country.

finding assisting work can be tough. I'm still trying to find some good work. I just missed out on shooting the oscars 'cause I called too late Frowner what I'm finding out about pro photogs is that most of them "already have some good help and don't need more, check back later." that's just what you have to do. find a bunch of photogs you want to work for and keep bugging them for work.

Hey Vanessa, since you are in Japan you might want to check this site. www.avgvst.com (pronounced august). There are some very good photographers listed there. Why don't you try to get some work in Tokyo? Maybe find out who's shooting for Metropolis or even the Roppongi based design mag AXIS. You should have a good book to show if you are considering shooting.
