I would like to submit a potfolio of work for stock shot on my Canon 10 D, though the native resolution is lower than the specified requirments of 18mb. The word is that alot of photographers are raising the resolution and passing the images off as native. Is working in PhotoshopCS bicubic smoother and changing the pixal demensions to 13.73x 17.15 @ 300 pix per inch the best approach? I heard a noted stock authority mention transfering the 10D file into a D1s file solves the problem. Any insight and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, CS Gerould

If the agency wants a larger file size, then you should buy a camera that shoots a larger file size. The stock agency could easily uprez the 1D image the same way that you can, but they are not interesting in doing that.
Its amazing to me that I've seen photographers write, "My uprezed file looks the same, so I don't have a problem tricking the client into thinking it was shot as a larger file than it was actually shot with". To me that is no different than when you go to a mechanic and tell him you want Mobil oil for your car, but he uses the CHEAPER generic oil because YOU, the client can't tell the difference anyway. That is wrong when he does it, and its wrong when photographers do it.
Its not our place to decide whether the client is right or wrong. Our job is to just give the client what he wants.

Richard, Thank you! Your a guardian angel. Your right, just because a few do it doesn't mean it is O.K. There is way to much trickery in the world today. I am sick of it and really embarressed that I would consider sending a misrepresented submission. I apologize to those professionals trying to keep the standards of the industry up. Anybody have a Canon1Ds they would like to sell to an emerging photogapher?
