Perhaps there is detail in the background (at "mid-field") that is lost in electronic transmission, but all I see in background is the tree-line at top, which serves no purpose that I can imagine (except "being unusual"). Though that tree-line gives "depth" to the background, because it is "dis-embodied" from the rest of the image, it serves only as a distraction. I can't help but recall the Robert Duvall character in "Apocalypse Now", at the top-of-his-lungs, ordering an air strike to "Take-out that God-d**ned tree-line" ... (Director Coppola used half-a-ton of dynamite, and 1000 gallons of gasoline, in drums connected by plastic pipe, to simulate a napalm-strike by F-4 Phantoms ...)
You could "take out that tree-line" a bit more easily: remove it via Photoshop, and you will have a nice, intimate portrait.

I agree with Mark, also (it could be my monitor) I think the the flowers are a little to desaturated, good lighting and the skin is very smooth. John
