I'm a Newbie to Digital and have been getting into trouble with this nice new camera with all the "Stuff" it can do.
The newest thing no one seems to know about is why the camera seems to be funtioning fine until I postview the image on the LCD and it is a black photograph. A regular file with only black contents. The histogram is there as normal but witout any information on it. I have changed the 2 sets of batteries with new and even tried to use the AC adaptor. I replaced the media card (2 others interchanged) with resetting every thing I can think of to change, Nothing. I followed the manual and I think I have covered everything But...
I am not getting any Error messages anywhere on the camera and it seems to be preforming as normal. I can't check if the shutter is really working inside, because the camera will not funtion without the lense.
I'm pulling my hair out by the roots here. It worked fine when I last put it away so I really think some setting is incorrect somewhere but for the life of me I can't find where. Could someone please help brainstorm this problem with me ? Thank you

You may want to try the Fuji SLR forum at dpreview. Someone there may have an answer for you.

Good luck,
Steve

Flames,
To check if there is a setting "set wrong", try to reset the defaults. I think it is in the menu you see when you press the menu button when you DON'T have a photo (or in your case a black rectangle) showing in the preview window.

The only other thing I can think of is that you accidently changed a custom setting. Try going through the custom options by selecting that option on the ring on the left side of the viewfinder (the one with ISO on it)

Failing that, give Fuji a call.
Good luck,
Randy

Does this still happen when the camera is being powered via the adapter? Does the camera record an image that is not black or blank? Check your preview settings. The camera can be set to not show a preview. Feel free to pop me an e-mail if you need any further assistance.
