The rumor mill has Nikon announcing a new high MP camera later this month. I'd give it until December and, if nothing materializes, get a D700. A higher MP Nikon is really not a matter of IF so much as WHEN. The Sony looks like a viable option, but I wouldn't want to be throwing down for all that new glass since I have a lot of Nikon equipment all ready.
