for the ultrawides, don't forget the Nikon 14-24.
I bought one and am waiting for the adaptor to be delivered, so I made some test on a D-3; it smokes any other lens in that range:

Sean,

B&H lists two different ultra-wide Tokina zooms, neither of which are 11-17mm:
Tokina Zoom Fisheye to Super Wide-Angle 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 AT-X 107 DX

and

Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X 116 Pro DX

Were you referring to one of these?

Also, you mention using it on your 1DsMkII, so I assume it works on full frame? (The B&H site lists these as APS-C only).

I also ordered that adapter for the Nikon 14-24 to the 5D and have been so disappointed with the length of time I have waited and no frequent responses on the status of the progress of getting the adapter that I requested a refund which I got right away. I know he means well, but his lack of communication on the progress of the new adapters isn't helping.
How long have you been waiting?

Oh, my bad. yeah, it's a 10-17mm AT-x 107 DX Fisheye by Tokina. I can asure you that I'm getting full frame fisheye on both my 1D MKII and my 1Ds MKII It's an awesome lens...

I too ordered the adapter from Mark thru the 16-9 site. The lack of info is crazy - even when the guy posts on Fred Miranda's site he give some of the worst information as to what the heck is happening with the adapters and all teh money he has collected from people. How hard is it to actually give some updated info as to where the exactly the adapters are at? I am going on 5 months since I ordered mine - from what I can gather, he has only filled the orders that were placed back in January - at that rate I might not see my adapter until 2009.

Not sure if returning the Canon 14mm II and getting the Nikon 14-24 was such a great move considering I havent been able to do anything with it in 5 months - almost makes it a really stupid purchase.

information about the adaptor isn't Marks strenghts, but he's not ripping off people..

I ordered some 10 days ago, and expect it in the first week of September, as I need it for work at the end of September, and have to calibrate its distortions with Lenscorrector.

Marks talks about 35 days, now, and wrote, a while ago:

"The first 25x orders placed from January 5 will ship before the end of June. All subsequent back-orders should now ship early in July."

I hope you are correct - and that he really has straightened things out - but you have very high expectations thing that your order from 10 days ago will arrive by the end of September.

The guy only ordered 100 base adapters - I have a hunch that way more then 100 people are on back order since before 10 days ago - You might not be using the lens until next year at this rate!

Take a read thru the updates on the 16-9 page:

just read on other forums that people who placed orders back in late January early February have yet to receive their adapters by now.

Craig, I'm considering it as a wide system if there's enough work to support it. I want a higher MP body and 2 lenses - 24 PC and 14-24.

But if I could have anything it would be a Sinar arTec with a few wide lenses and a 50-60MP back!

If I had that kind of cash I'd just put a down payment on a condo, or some property out of state. Maybe a new car, which I really need.

Meanwhile, a D700 with their new 24mm PC and 14-24 is extremely compelling. I hope they have a 20mm PC lens on the way because that's closer to the focal length I like to use, and I am sooooooo sick of fudging perspectives in Photoshop. It just isn't the same as doing it optically.

Still, even that body and those lenses are not a small investment in today's market! I've done the math on MF view cameras and high res backs enough times to know that it would be financial suicide.
