Adobe launched Lightroom 2 today, and I'm thinking of upgrading. Has anyone used the public beta? If so, is it worth upgrading? Or am I better off waiting due to bugs and such?

Some users (including your humble correspondent) report a bug that prevents keywords from being transferred to the new catalog properly. Adobe is aware of the problem and is working on a fix. However, if I were you, and I had a catalog with a lot of keywords, I'd wait until the fix is done.

All my keywords came across okay but I'm having a problem exporting a selected group of files; it only wanted to export the initial selected file and not the rest.

Sometimes that would happen if I tried to export from the Develop pane. If it did, I switched to the Library pane and it would do what I wanted. Don't know why.

I love the raw converter of the beta but don't like anything else bout the application, from the paradigm it's based on to the user interface. It mostly just gets in the way and slows down my workflow.
I hope they don't cripple Bridge or ACR to sell more copies of Lightroom, that would be a real loss for me personally, and a disservice to their customers, IMO.

Do even attempt to try the Capture 1 beta for version 4.x then.

I'm a relatively low volume shooter and I permanently dump a lot of stuff on the first and second looks then forget about it. I'm (arguably) a ruthless self-editor. So, since I don't have millions of images to manage, I don't need really the "library" function, to me it just seems redundant. I'd just rather work on the actual files like Bridge does. The whole import/export thing just wastes time and confuses me.
All I need is a killer raw converter, Bridge, and the filing system of the computer OS. It's enough for my relatively simple needs.
I've spent a lot of time trying to learn what it's trying to do (half that time trying to figure out the 1980's UI) but it turned out to be time wasted. The batching and metadata functions in Bridge are enough, and I don't need the extra capabilities in LR because my image library is pretty straightforward and easy to manage.
Others find great value in it and that's great, I'm just saying it isn't for everybody.

After spending alot of time with Capture 1, Aperture, Lightroom and Leaf Capture, I can't say that I prefer one. There's parts of each I wish I could combine..
I've settled on Lightroom though. Purely for quality of output. The dated interface and the clunky non user friendly import file structure is bad. Also little things like no direct cyan adjustment slider infuriates the hell out of me. I hate that stupid floral thing too. I wish I could combine Apertures interface, it's tethered shooting capabilities and some of it's functions with Lightrooms quality and some of it's functions. Annoyingly, I use Aperture to shoot tethered with. It's much easier to use and has some nice functions. I really like the loupe on aperture.
Why we can't have just an RGB + greyscale Curves on either is beyond me....

To do what? IOW, what isn't possible in the rendering of your Raws? The curves in LR are for very fine tuning of tone. They are nothing like, nor designed to be used like Photoshop's curves.
