A very enterprising fellow has developed Lightroom plugins to allow direct export to PhotoShelter. They have been tested with LR 1.x and LR2 and seem to work just spiffy. Here's a link:
They're free although he does ask for a donation if you use them, which is more than fair. Note that on export to the PSC, you still have to tag as Creative or News, but since you can do that in batch mode, it's not a big deal. He says the API doesn't have a hook for that tag, so there's nothing that can be done about it. It's still worth it!
