If your breathing on the lens to form light condensation when cleaning, I reccomend a shot of scotch beforehand, as the alcohol content makes for a cleaner more even finshed surface.....

I use microfiber on my glasses (and different microfiber on my lenses). I clean the glasses cloth every few weeks, as you say - the oils eventually get on it enough that it leaves more behind than it cleans.
I wash them in a sink using dish soap - laundry detergent leaves behind residue to make your clothes look brighter, smell nice etc. Dish soap is pure degreaser.
Just rinse in hot water, then in cold to get the soap off. Air dry.
