| I haven't tried it without the tube, but I think it would be pretty loud--I've heard that most of the camera sound travels through the lens. And the Jacobson models have the tube. The entire camera and lens have to be sealed to really muffle the noise. It does make it a pain to change focal lengths or lenses, but I guess that's the price you have to pay.
