In case you stopped looking at my other post about my Eye-One problems... Wink

OK, this might be a crazy question but I was looking at the bottom of the puck and the 4 holes. I can't for the life of me remember if some kind of doo-dad is supposed to fit in those 4 holes in the center or if this is the way it was made. Can someone look at theirs and tell me if looks like mine?

Gracias in advance...

can't see from the angle of the pictures - the cable entry point does not seem to have a sleeve/bushing (or whatever the proper term is) to prevent the cable from moving/pulling inside the puck and compromising the connections.

My Eye-One has no sleeve, and it never did.

Craig,

I believe the holes are where it reads from. Nothing goes into those holes.

You probably know this, but just in case, I'll mention it; If the suction cups are pressed hard up against the the monitor, it will not read correctly. The puck should hang loosely down on the screen.

This is a long shot, but you could try going to your boot drive/Library/Colorsync/Profiles, and throw out all your old monitor profiles, including the latest one. Then profile again with the eye-One. There could be a corrupt file in there.

Just wondering why these things need 30 (THIRTY!) suction cups to stick to the screen... Confused
Any bright ideas?

perhaps a holdover from the CRT days?
is the eye-1 puck designed to hang from the top edge when used on LCD screens?

Carig,

Yours looks exactly the same a mine. I did have problems with two of them and they were replaced at no charge. Worth a try.

I finally got it working this morning. Did several things all at the same time so not sure exactly which one worked. First I blew air into those 4 holes in case there was any dirt or dust blocking and giving me a false reading, and second I turned off the "Screenshades" program before I calibrated in case that was somehow interfering.

So I finally got the right gamma and color temp but the screen was still way too bright so I turned on the "Screenshades" again to dim it to an approximately 140 Luminance.
