Although the Eizo is a great monitor I purchased 2 30" Apple displays and use them side by side. Color calibration is fantastic. Since they lowered the price to $1700 to me it made sense.

I also use an HP 2335 on my other G5 and I have to tell you it has been perfect, color is accurate. I have had it now for over 3 years and there is no drift of color. Smiler

Althought the LCD technology, as it stands today, has advance so much to the point that it can be as close as the CRT technology for color reproduction, based on my review and test of all the LCD displays available in the trade today, I can attest that none of them will reproduce a one (1) IRE box in black background. The closest one was the EIZO ColorEdge and it bombed at four (4) IRE. The Sony Artisan, the Sony GDM-FW900 and the GDM-F520, all fully calibrated were able to do it.

Hope this helps...

Sincerely,

LAG, Jr.

Question - I don't know what an IRE box is let alone 4 of them - but I also do not know of a single client of mine at any of the advertising agencies or design firms across this entire country that actually have a Sony Artisan in use nor do any of the seperators or retouchers. With that said - what difference does it make if one can see a single IRE box or 4 of them if no one else will ever be able to - let alone an image going to a 4 color press???

One IRE is the lowest gray level in the grayscale or sometimes called gray gradation scale (0 IRE to 100 IRE). It is a very important factor when setting black and gray levels on a monitor and/or display.

Using a CRT or an LCD as a color reference monitor is a matter of preference. I am just being objective with my posting.

Hope this helps...

Sincerely,

LAG, Jr.
