It looks like one of our excellent moderators closed down this thread, and I completely agree with that decision. I'm going
to close it down again after I make a few comments.
The first thing is that I'd like to ask that this forum be
used less for cross-platform attacks, and more for the sharing of knowledge and information. It's one thing to mention that
there is a way to perform a trojan-horse virus on a Mac than it is to use it as a point attack, as many here probably took
it. Even if that wasn't the attempt, that's how it's often perceived.
The comments that no computers are perfect
are completely accurate. Let's all remember that they are just tools, regardless of how much we may love them.
And
one factual thing, the eweek article linked from here does not currently contain the quotations cited in the posting. I'm
not sure if they were originally in the article and were removed, or were not there.
If you were worried regarding
the costs of security upgrades for your Mac, please keep in mind that Panther has monthly security updates, as does Windows.
As was stated here, Panther is not just an update to the OS it's a major version update. There's some conversation about security
updates on older versions of 10.x and that will likely continue.
If you're a photographer, and you haven't upgraded
to Panther, there are better features to update for than the security updates, but they don't hurt either.
Again,
let's please keep these posts civil. There is NO reason for insults nor for name calling. Posts that devolve into arguments
will be closed by the moderators.
Thanks all for your obvious interest in the forums.
