According to the article, "This is the first native Mac OS virus we've found,"
I'm switching back to PC. Wait a minute; I AM typing this on a PC. I think Trojans and viruses really have a ways to go before wreaking havoc on Macs, but thanks for the "Orange Alert" Chris. Youve just ruined my Easter Weekend.
A Wired article seems to say that this is more of a scare than a real threat. To quote the article:
quote:
"They gave the impression that this is a threat, but it isn't," said Dave Schroeder, a systems engineer with the University of Wisconsin. "It is a benign proof of concept that was posted to a newsgroup. It isn't in the wild, and can't be spread in the wild. It's a non-issue."
Of course, it's still probably just a matter of time before someone tries to propogate the real thing.
Of course it's nice (so far) too know about it before it's a problem; knowing that a real fix will likely be implimented by the time any damage of consequence is done. I've had one virus in 10+years. It was removed before infection. It came from Redmond as a special "bonus" with an Office update. Smells like jealousy
it seems that you spend way to much time trying to find fault with macs. a quick peek into the archives reveals your odd obsession with this. some people prefer macs, some pc's, some coke, some pepsi....some bush, some anyone else. we don't all have to think like you do we?

Dang I feel like Jack of the bean stalk. Hey common now boys and girls, really - who's the underdog HERE? Certainly not the almighty Mac on this forum (I bow down to thee). I just like to jab at you Apple guys because all I ever here about is how the PC is a sub-standard in the world of creative and how all of my revered clients will run away when they find out I do my work on a PC that I built in my kitchen. Stampede! Heh.
And Chris, thanks for being such a great fan, but I didn't spend too much time finding fault with Macs, in fact it didn't take any time at all, because a quick peek into the archives of the forum reveals that Macs have plenty of issues pick one theyre all here in black and white and... silver?
Whatever the case, you can bet your blue apples that the article above has brought to the attention of puter-geeks world-wide a virgin, un-tapped target for his first time Mac-trojan (pardon the punn). The first one to bust the almighty blue apple will become immortal. In fact I can only imagine that some puter-geek at MIT is probably finger-pecking some killer Trojan code for your Mac right now. The funny thing is he's probably doing it on a PC.

ctw, IMHO, your overdoing a bit; see I don't have any probs, if your lucky on win, but all the exploded outlook mailboxes - hiding the real sender, since 2 - 3 months, this might go from 300 to 400 are telling me, that I'm having some netsky.exe ore similar stuff which basically isn't executable on my mac.....
so please keep going at low profile. Thanks.

Monte, Thanks for your thoughts, but IMHO I guess it could be worse? I could be having Epson Printer driver issues or the likes. Keeping the low-pro as always. -ctw

sorry, I can't follow you: You push a fake, once this is dedected, you run away to different other stories, without clearing the topic, or responses.
Fact is: There's been enough (to much) win-viruses, wurms, etc... Fact is: There's been some marginal ways to "hack" macs.
I prefer to be on the realistic side

What the... what are you talking about Spluga? Just think if you were running a Windows machine with Office you could have run a spelling and grammar check on your trash before you sent it out. I didn't mean to unleash the ire of the Mac gods here; I simply posted something I found interesting - though with a bit of sarcasm that was meant to be humorous. As usual, I apologize for offending.
